Use this for an initial discovery call, before treating an opportunity as qualified. The fictional buyer describes a reporting bottleneck but has not confirmed budget or purchasing authority.

Notes / worked example

Sales discovery · Reporting team

Buyer context

Leah manages operations reporting for a team of eight. Purchasing authority: not confirmed.

Problem & current approach

Leah consolidates spreadsheet updates each Friday. A stale file reached the director in last week’s review.

Business impact

The stale file led to a second review meeting. Financial impact and time cost: not quantified.

Decision process & timing

Finance must evaluate the option. Leah wants a trial before the October planning cycle; no purchase deadline or budget was confirmed.

Questions & objections

Leah asked how access is restricted and whether data can be exported. Both need follow-up.

Mutual next step

Noah will send export and access documentation by Friday. Leah will review it; a demo is not booked.

Read the source dialogue for this example
  1. Leah: I manage operations reporting for eight people. Every Friday I consolidate spreadsheets.
  2. Leah: Last week a stale file went to our director and we needed a second review.
  3. Noah: Who would evaluate a change?
  4. Leah: Finance needs to review it. I would like a trial before October planning, but we have not set a budget.
  5. Leah: How is access restricted, and can we export our data?
  6. Noah: I will send the export and access documentation by Friday.
  7. Leah: I will review it before we decide whether to book a demo.

Start with a blank page.
Keep the useful structure.

Each field earns its place. Use the prompts as reminders, then replace them with your own meeting evidence.

Buyer context

Record the person’s role and the workflow discussed. A job title alone does not prove purchasing authority.

Problem & current approach

Describe the current process, a recent failure, and what the buyer already tried. Use their account rather than your product’s feature categories.

Business impact

Preserve the buyer’s stated impact without adding ROI or urgency they did not express. Mark missing metrics explicitly.

Decision process & timing

Ask who else evaluates a change, what criteria they use, and whether a deadline is real or aspirational. Do not fill budget fields from intuition.

Questions & objections

Record unresolved concerns in the buyer’s language. Distinguish a request for information from a reason they will not proceed.

Mutual next step

Write the action each party actually accepted. Do not imply a demo booking, trial, or commercial commitment without agreement.

Make it part of the meeting.

Before · define what qualification means

Choose the few questions that determine whether another conversation is worthwhile. Bring hypotheses, but keep the fields for impact, budget, and decision-makers unfilled until the buyer gives evidence.

During · ask for a recent instance

Explore what happened, why it mattered, and what the buyer did next. Follow the decision process without treating every contact as a champion or every inconvenience as an urgent purchase.

After · confirm the mutual step

Send a brief recap of the problem and the accepted follow-up. Transfer reviewed facts into your sales system manually or through a separately verified integration; this template does not sync a CRM.

What to watch for

  • Converting a preferred trial date into a purchase deadline.
  • Filling budget and authority fields because they are required in a CRM.
  • Using a follow-up email to add commitments the buyer never made.

Turn the template
into a Prismical Skill.

Import the file

Download the Skill JSON above. In Prismical, open Settings → Skills → Import and select the file. This downloads a file; it does not install anything automatically.

Run it on a note

Open the note with your meeting transcript. Run the imported Skill from the note dock. It asks for this template’s sections and appends the result for review.

Check before sharing

Verify quotes, owners, dates, and missing context against the transcript. AI can make mistakes. Keep the original note and follow your team’s sharing policy.

A few useful answers.

Practical details before you use this resource.

Can this work with BANT or MEDDICC?

Yes. Add fields for your qualification method, but retain “not confirmed” when the call does not establish an answer. A framework is a question guide, not permission to complete missing evidence.

Does the Skill update my CRM?

No. The downloadable Skill creates a note for review and includes no integration permissions. Copy reviewed facts into your CRM, or configure and verify an appropriate integration separately.
